Animal Program

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our Animal Program team as an Milieu Counselor II- Animal helper. This part time position will involve providing Milieu Support to residential staff but most importantly their assistance in various aspects of our Animal program including but not limited to animal care, education presentations, and empowering students to assist in the care of our beloved animals.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 16 per week

Responsibilities for these direct care positions:

1. Able to establish relationships of healthy mutuality with clients, as stated in the Wellspring mission statement, values, and philosophy, within the context of professional responsibilities

2. Able to establish and maintain professional and personal boundaries.

3. Able to utilize supervision as a means of learning effective strategies for working with clients in the milieu.

4. Able to observe clients’ patterns of behaviors and to communicate pertinent information about clients to the team.

5. Takes care of the animals at regular care times, including feeding, grooming, and checking the status of each of them.

6. Maintains the animals’ environment by cleaning stalls, coop, and other barn areas by consistently completing the daily care routine.

7. Participates in maintaining cleanliness and organization of materials related to land and/or animals.

8. Adheres to the directives of the coordinator regarding animal health and care of the environment.

9. Assists Coordinator with routine animal health interventions.

10. Demonstrates the capacity to independently care for the animals and barn when the coordinator is not available.

11. Maintains, teaches and practices appropriate safety standards

FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

1. Assist in the daily care and maintenance of animals, including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring their health and well-being.

2. Follow and enforce safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the well-being of both animals and visitors.

3. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to animal care and program activities.

4. Collaborate with coordinator to continuously improve the animal program and its offerings.

5. Enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Requirements for counselor positions:

· B/A or B/S IN Psychology or closely related field

· Experience with and comfort ability with working with farm animals ( Sheep, Goats, Chickens, Rabbit)

· Physical stamina and ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting and carrying heavy objects up to 50lbs

· Knowledge of safety protocols and guidelines related to animal care.

· Passion for working with animals and promoting their welfare.

· Demonstrated leadership skills, a team player.

· Computer literacy required.

Mathematics Teacher

The Arch Bridge School at Wellspring has a Full Time opening for a CT State Certified teacher for our state approved, and NEASC accredited independent private school. We are looking for:

A Full Time Mathematics teacher who will be able to teach middle school and high school math subjects to students with a range of learning abilities.

The Arch Bridge School is part of Wellspring, a therapeutic and educational center, located on a beautiful campus in rural Connecticut (Litchfield County.) The school serves the educational needs of both residential and day students.

The Arch Bridge School offers core academics and college preparatory courses, allowing students to meet their unique academic objectives while in Residential Treatment or as students attending our Therapeutic Day School. Our students tend to be bright, creative and college bound.

Our most successful teachers have an experiential approach to learning and thrive when able to teach in a kind, nurturing environment. We offer an opportunity to teach in small, well-supported classroom settings. Class size tends to be 4-8 students but does not exceed twelve (12) students. We have multiple clinicians on staff to provide immediate support throughout the day. Physical Education/Health Teacher- Part Time

The Arch Bridge School at Wellspring, located in Bethlehem, has a part time opening for a CT State Certified Physical Education teacher for our state approved, and NEASC accredited independent private school.

The Physical Education Teacher for the Arch Bridge School will provide physical education for our school programs covering middle and high school grades. Scheduling for the PE classes is flexible. The part time PE Teacher can provide PE classes during one full day, or over partial days. This will be discussed with those selected for interview.

Residential Counselors- GENERAL INFORMATION (See specific openings below)

Residential (Milieu) Counselors: Full Time, Part Time and Per Diem- General Information.

Our team of milieu counselors foster healthy relationships by helping center the ‘family’ experience in residential living. They are kind, mindful and emotionally equipped to hold space for our residents to continue to grow and heal. These college graduate front line people help residents process a confusing conversation, encourage them to learn a new skill or take on a new responsibility, work with our farm animals, share their unique gifts (such as knitting, cooking, playing games) or sit quietly with our residents to help them settle into their own place and space. We offer full time, part time and per diem positions to support resident population.

  • Educational Background: BA/BS in Psychology or related field preferred. Candidates with an earned two-year degree considered. Must have a minimum of 60 college credits earned.
  • Experience: Two years or more of experience working in a therapeutic field preferred. Prior experience working with girls and/or young adult women desirable.
  • Salary: $20 per hour (base hourly rate), plus shift differentials for weekend and overnight hours. Shift differentials can add $2 to $4/hour to the base rate.
  • Full time (30 hrs or more) benefit package includes medical, dental, disability, life insurance and generous paid time off.
  • Part time (20-29 hrs.) benefit package includes paid time off.
  • This  position is eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Additional compensation : Holiday differential ($1/hr.) for 7 designated holidays. This differential is applied to: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and October Fall Weekend Monday.
  • Additional compensation: Holiday Pay (1.5 times base rate) for 3 designated holidays. The Holiday Pay is applied to: New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Generous Paid Time off package, that increases with years of service for positions with 20 hrs or more.
Milieu Counselor Angelus House

We are seeking two dedicated and passionate individuals to join our team as a Milieu Counselor I for Angelus House. This position will involve providing Milieu Support to residents, assisting in various aspects of their daily programs.  Angelus House  is a premier mental health residential treatment program for young adult women & gender diverse individuals age 18 and older.

Full time- Kitchen, Milieu Counselor

Wellspring is seeking an experienced counselor to coordinate the kitchen program and provide a healing milieu experience in our Residential Program.

Qualifications:

  • Kitchen experience/skills and interest in applying them in the milieu setting, keeping with our therapeutic milieu model.
  • Specific experience with cooking for large groups, particularly non-institutional settings.
  • Nutritional knowledge/experience and willingness to work with a nutritionist, and the clinical team, to provide healthy meal choices and dining experiences.
  • Ability to maintain already established good working relationships with food vendors, health department reviewers, and others.
  • Willing and able to teach culinary skills to residents and staff with kindness and care.
  • Experience in training and/or supervising others is a plus.
  • Serve Safe Certification or willingness to complete the certification process.

Milieu Counselor I - Adolescent Girls

We are recruiting for ONE, benefit eligible, FULL TIME opening in the Adolescent Girls Residential Program, known as Beauvais House, an eighteenth century restored farm house with nineteen beds for our residential program for girls 12-18. The house has several community sitting areas, two working fireplaces, a large kitchen and an outdoor deck that overlooks our fields where our goats and sheep graze. Staff interacts with our campus animals, that also include chickens and Willow, an indoor bunny, as part of the land and animal program.

CURRENT OPENING:

Position Title:  Milieu Counselor
Employment Agreement Type: FULL TIME (30hrs)

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS:

Compensation: Base rate: starting at $20.00/hr.
Eligible for overtime: Yes.

SHIFT SCHEDULE: Three 10-hour shifts, 3 days on duty, 4 days off each week.

Sunday: 10pm to 8am, Friday: 10pm to 8am, Saturdays: 10pm to 8am.

Milieu Counselor I- Girls Residential

We are recruiting for one PART TIME opening in the Girls Residential Program, known as Shiolah House. Shiloah is a cozy living space with eight beds for our residential program for girls 12-16. Shiloah’s program has a living room with a working fireplace, a spacious kitchen to share meals or do homework, and backyard with a covered deck, swings and vegetable garden. The Shiloah program provides many activities for the residents that include land and animal programs, adventure and outings.
