Residential Mental Health Programs and Services

Nestled in the heart of Litchfield County, Connecticut, Wellspring offers two beautiful, bucolic campuses that effortlessly take the word facility out of residential mental health facilities.

Two Beautiful Campuses Focused on Healing

Main Campus

Wellspring’s main campus is set on 15 acres with two cozy residential homes tucked in among perennial gardens, pastures and a barn that are home to goats, sheep, chickens and bunnies.

This campus provides:

  • Long term residential treatment for adolescent girls struggling with mental health and emotional challenges.
  • A private therapeutic special education school for residential and day students.
  • Outpatient mental health counseling services.

Angelus House Campus

Our second therapeutic community is on its own 10 acre campus, and it is the home for Angelus House which is a residential treatment center for adult women who struggle with a variety of psychiatric conditions and emotional challenges.

The program provides:

  • A multidisciplinary treatment team that includes a psychiatrist, nurse, psychotherapists, social workers, and milieu counselors.
  • Intensive clinical therapies integrated with culinary and organic gardening program, yoga, and land and animal programs.
  • Transition/step-down program and college transition services to ensure a meaningful return to life with family or independent living.

Before I came to Wellspring, I was so lost and confused. I was angry and unhappy with little respect for anything, especially myself. Wellspring allowed me to understand what a real relationship is; with other people and most importantly, myself.

Treatment Philosophy

Founded on a belief in the uniqueness and dignity of the individual.

We strive always to see, know, and reach the essential person in our care. What we seek in therapy, counseling and education is not external social adjustment alone, but to help the person access what is inherent in personality and giftedness — the “wellspring” of one’s own being — that is ultimately the basis for a stable and creative individual life.
