Children’s Residential Treatment Program
Wellspring’s Residential Treatment Program for Children and Middle School girls is a unique residential treatment program serving children ages 8-12 & girls up through the Middle School years. The young people in this small, individualized program present with a variety of emotional problems and diagnoses including: Bipolar & Mood Disorders, PTSD & Anxiety Disorders, ADHD, Issues Related to Adoption & Attachment, School Phobia and Emerging Personality Disorders.
This small seven bed residential treatment program is set in the scenic hills of northwestern Connecticut in a rambling farmhouseon a private school campus. The peaceful atmosphere and caring staff provide the sense of security necessary for a child and family to risk restoring relationships while healing psychological, emotional and educational problemsFamilies are supported and invited into treatment and trained as an essential partner in the healing process. Family work and visits are individualized and may occur either weekly or monthly depending on travel and schedules.
Young people in this program are provided a safe and structured setting, where healing, learning and change can occur while still enjoying the fun and educational opportunities of a private school in a bucolic farm-like setting. Since young people learn more through experience than talk, Wellspring takes great care in structuring the student’s daily experiences and relationships as opportunities for healing. Our vibrant milieu-based treatment program is supported by an exceptional educational program which is integrated with therapy. The Arch Bridge School at Wellspring has received multiple commendations from the State Department of Education and NEASC including praise as a comfortable, safe environment with positive teacher-student rapport, an atmosphere of mutual respect and excellent academics.
