Harvey Newman, MSW, Senior Consultant

 

Harvey joined Wellspring in 2007 as Chief Executive Officer, where he is responsible for the overall operational and program management of Wellspring.

Prior to his role here, he served as CEO of Lakeside Family and Children Services. He served as Deputy Commissioner for New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services, and Executive Director for The Center for Preventative Psychiatry. He has also taught as an Adjunct Professor for Hunter College’s School of Social Work for thirty years and brings 35 years of experience in the mental health field to Wellspring.

Harvey obtained his MSW at Boston University’s School of Social Work, and also earned a certificate in nonprofit management at Harvard Business School. He has served on the Boards of the NYC Urban League, The American Jewish Committee’s NYC Chapter, and the Nonprofit Finance Fund. He is currently the President, and member of the Board of Directors, for the Children’s League of Connecticut. In 1987 he received the Boston University School of Social Work award for Career Achievement.

A supporter of the New York Knicks year round, Harvey finds times for the Yankees and Red Sox in season and is the single father of two emerging adult daughters.
